100% whey protein powder?
does it really work to build muscle, or is it not needed? i'm doin good short it, but idk if i would get better gains by taking it. i am a intensely good eater and i do know that getting protein from foods is much better, but i dont think i'm getting 1g per lb of body mass

You really can't go wrong near whey protein. You just can't get the protein you obligation from your food. You need to always remember that your muscles are made of protein. When you train your muscles will look to replace that protein. Without it your muscles simply won't build or will build really slowly.
Try to procure about 30-50 grams of protein post-workout. The first hour after your workout is the "golden hour". This is the optimal time to boost your protein.
You can't do it at the expense of carbs though.

Trust me, it really helps. I've be using it for a while and there's a big difference. Any protein helps, but I WOULD recommend trying to get at tiniest 1 gram per pound of body weight. Also, remember to drink at least a gallon of hose down a day. Your muscles need hose to fuel them just like the rest of your body. If you don't drink plenty, you'll get slowed down and you won't get the results you want.
A little tip on the protein, brand sure the majority of it is Isolated Whey protein. And to get enough, try protein bar (I used an MLOproducts.com bar that has 30 grams of protein per shaft. It's a good way to rob out a chunk of my daily protein.)
